Just Stand Up To Cancer

Background:
"Just Stand Up!" is a single featuring singers like Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Keyshia Cole, LeAnn Rimes, Ashanti and Ciara. The single is used for a event by Stand Up to Cancer.

Background aside, the video of the singers' performance of the song:

Now here's the thing. I'm okay with all of the singers that are featured. Except for Miley Cyrus.

For the benefit for those who don't know who is Miley Cryus. She is a star in Disney Channel and she has her own show (Hannah Montana).

Why Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus, I wonder? I can easily pick singers that are like a zillion times better than her who can actually sing better than her.

Like Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion etc...

If you watch the video where Miley Cyrus sings her part with Rihanna, she is the only singer who bounces (Bouncing and dancing are two very different actions) on the stage. Apparently, Rihanna shudder when she saw that.

While... I read on the Internet about a rumor on how Miley and the rest of the singers got a chance to be featured in the song.

"The original roster of artist line-up was originally spearheaded by Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. However, plans were scrapped after difficulties arose between Houston and Dion[2]. As the list of the second roster of artists was made for the songwriters, Sony Music and Mathew Knowles bid $500,000 for Beyoncé Knowles to sing more lines than any other artist. [3] Disney donated $76,000 for Miley Cyrus' inclusion to the roster of artists.[4] Rapper Jay-Z penned $95,000 for Def Jam Recordings artist Rihanna to sing the second most number of lines after wife Beyoncé[5]. Clive Davis reportedly submitted a check containing $275,000 to the charity single for the inclusion of Leona Lewis [6] and $290,000 for Carrie Underwood's participation[7]. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds contacted Mariah Carey to sing the climactic high note and she gladly accepted.[8]"

"Solange Knowles was also endorsed by Mathew Knowles, however; she was rejected by the charity single executives in favor of Ashanti[9]. Christina Aguilera was originally offered the part of Carrie Underwood but RCA pulled her out of the charity single due to the editing of her adlib parts in favor of Underwood and Knowles' vocals.[10] Beyoncé Knowles donated $250,000 for the inclusion of fellow R&B artists Ciara and Mary J. Blige, to sing the parts originally for Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson.[11] "

This may or may not be true. So just take it with a pinch of salt...

Anyway, I read someone's comment on youtube:

"I'll rather die from cancer than to hear Miley sing."
